Meetings, Deadlines and Fees

 

Planning Commission meets on the third Monday of each month at noon at the old Bristol Virginia Utility Board Auditorium (300 Lee Street).

The Board of Zoning Appeals meets on the first Monday of each month at 5:30 at the old Bristol, Virginiia Utility Board Auditorium (300 Lee Street).

Rezoning Requests/Applications
All rezoning applications and their associated site plans must be received in the Community Development and Planning Office at least 10 days prior to the Planning Commission meeting.

A $100.00 review fee is required at the time the application is made. Code requires requests be advertised twice prior to a Public Hearing. It is the City's policy to place such advertisements in the Bristol Herald Courier. The Community Development and Planning Office will prepare the advertisement. It is the applicant's responsibility to take the advertisement to the Herald Courier and pay for the ad prior to publication. If the advertisement is not placed in the Herald Courier on the dates specified on the ad, the Public Hearing may be cancelled. Additionally, Code requires that written notifications are sent to adjoining property owners. These notifications will be written and mailed by Community Development and Planning Staff. However, the petitioner must (according to Code) pay for the mailing.

Preliminary Subdivision Plats
All preliminary plats must be received at least 45 days prior to the Planning Commission meeting.

A plat review fee must be paid when the plat is submitted. The fee is $3.00 per lot when there are between 1 and 49 lots. If there are 50 or more lots, there is a $150.00 fee.

Final Subdivision Plats
All final plats must be received at least 15 days prior to the Planning Commission meeting.

Special Exception Requests
All special exception applications and their associated site plans must be received at least 10 days prior to the Planning Commission meeting.

Variance/Board of Zoning Appeals Requests
